SEO Case Studies
Work with someone who knows how to 4x your organic traffic
2024 was a difficult year for many New Zealand businesses, but for this online electronics store, I netted them an extra ~17,000 organic visitors per quarter, increasing their organic traffic by a whopping 300% (4x increase) in only one year.
If you want the same kind of SEO results for yourself, here is how you do it:
- #1 Every page needs a purpose. Every product page, collection page, and other website pages should be mapped to at least one specific search topic for SEO. If you don't know what keywords your web pages should be appearing for, you will struggle to find footing with your own SEO.
- #2 Keep it fast and fun. Users will stay longer on your website if it loads faster and gives them a better experience. Focus on removing website issues, loading web pages quickly, and adding value to your customer's browsing journey.
- #3 Do not forget about local SEO Google search is not the only place you can get organic traffic for. Optimise your Google My Business (GMB) listing for searches on Google Maps, and optimise your website for highly local searches, such as "Electronics stores Auckland", or "Electronics stores near me".

Unlocking new growth channels with ChatGPT & AI search engines
Every New Zealand business is trying to get on top of AI answer engines like ChatGPT, Google Answers, and Perplexity, but very few know how to optimise properly for this quickly growing channel.
Over the course of 2025, I grew AI brand discovery for an international furniture company from 300 to a whopping 8,000+ visits from ChatGPT following my proven tricks & techniques for AI search discovery, here was the bones of our AI SEO strategy:
- #1 Feeds & Rich Data. Use schema.org structured data so AI tools can map your content into answers directly. Keep pages fast-loading and easy to crawl. Submit your data to feeds like Google Merchants, XML sitemaps, and directories. Optimizing your feeds and rich data to be both accurate and reflecting the queries you want to show for is key.
- #2 Authority & Trust Signals. Brand mentions and backlinks currently have some of the strongest weighting for showing up in AI answers. Promote discussion about your services or products on social platforms like Reddit, get referenced on high-authority websites, and get featured in reputable news outlets.
- #3 Monitor, Experiment, & Optimise Use a reliable LLM monitoring tool to track brand mentions & citations on AI answer engines. Certain LLMs like ChatGPT can update their results frequently based on new feed & search data, so experiment with different strategies, review the results, and adjust your website content + metadata to match how people are querying these AI platforms.

FAQs
What is Local SEO, and why do I need it?
Local SEO is the practice of improving your visibility in location-based searches, like when people look for “coffee shop near me” or search on Google Maps. Instead of just competing for global rankings, the focus is on making your business easier to find by people in your area who are ready to buy.
Search behaviour is shifting, and more customers are relying on Google Maps, Apple Maps, and local directories to decide where to go. If your business isn’t optimised for these local searches, you risk losing visibility to competitors who are showing up instead.
By implementing Local SEO, you increase your chances of being discovered by nearby customers actively searching for your products or services. For New Zealand businesses with physical locations or local service areas, Local SEO is one of the most effective ways to attract more foot traffic, leads, and sales.
How much does Local SEO cost?
It depends on factors like who you are working with, what your goals are, how many locations you have, and more.
Most local New Zealand agencies will charge around $1,000 to $10,000 per month for Local SEO. Freelancers on the other hand can charge anywhere between $500 to $5,000 per month for their Local SEO services. You can also find Local SEO "experts" on outsourcing platforms for as little as $5 (or free), but the results that they generate will be questionable.
For most New Zealand businesses that I work with on Local SEO, I charge approximately $500 NZD+GST per month (although it can be more if you want results faster, have multiple locations, or are optimising for multiple countries).
What makes you different from other Local SEO specialists?
When I work with clients, I focus on real results backed by a practical approach to optimising your website for local searches, and I educate you & your team along the way so that we share a common vision for success and understanding on how to get there.
In terms of experience, I have 10+ years experience optimising SEO and strategy on over 200+ businesses of all sizes & industries across New Zealand
How does your 6-month guarantee work?
If you do not see your traffic improve after 6 months of working with me, you will receive a full refund for my services.
Marketing agencies cannot guarantee results, and I am no different, but I believe that marketing should not be a risky investment for New Zealand business owners, which is why I de-risk the engagement.
Unlike other agencies that offer similar, I also only factor in keywords & topics that are relevant to your business and will generate you traffic from real customers.
To make sure we understand each other clearly, I am not guaranteeing you will be at the top of the first page of the results across all of the search terms you want within 6 months, as that process can require a lot of time and ongoing effort depending on how competitive your industry is, but what I will do for you within 6 months is deliver clear and positive improvement towards your marketing goals, and feel confident that working with me long term will continue to yield you positive marketing results.
Do you do SEO for platforms aside from local?
Of course! My SEO strategies encompass every major platform including Google Search Results, AI platforms, App Stores & Directories & anything else in my wheelhouse.
Can you help me get my business listed in Google Maps?
Yes! I can help you get your business listed on Google Maps by setting up and verifying your Google Business Profile. This is the foundation of Local SEO, and it’s what makes your business show up when people search nearby or on Google Maps.
Once your profile is live, I optimise it with accurate information, categories, photos, and keywords so it has a better chance of ranking higher than competitors. I also guide you on how to collect and manage reviews, which are one of the most important signals for Google Maps rankings.
For New Zealand businesses, a properly optimised Google Maps listing can be a game-changer, helping you attract more local customers and making sure people can easily find you online and in person.
Can you help me remove negative reviews on Google?
I can’t delete reviews directly, but I can help you manage negative Google reviews the right way. If a review violates Google’s policies (such as spam, offensive content, or conflicts of interest), I guide you through the process of flagging and reporting it for removal.
For reviews that stay up, I help you craft professional responses that protect your reputation and show potential customers you take feedback seriously. Responding well to a negative review can turn a setback into a chance to demonstrate trust and care.
I also work with New Zealand businesses on review growth strategies, encouraging more positive reviews from real customers, so that one or two negatives don’t outweigh the good. Over time, this improves both your star rating and your visibility on Google Maps.
How can I optimise my website for Google Maps?
Optimising your website for Google Maps means making sure your online presence matches and supports your Google Business Profile. Google looks for consistency across your website and listings to decide how relevant your business is for local searches.
I help New Zealand businesses align their websites with local SEO best practices, including adding location keywords, embedding a Google Map, and publishing locally relevant content. Technical details like schema markup, fast page speed, and mobile optimisation also play a big role in strengthening your local visibility.
When your website and Google Maps listing work together, you’re more likely to show up in “near me” searches and attract customers nearby. This combination builds trust with both Google and your potential customers, leading to more clicks, calls, and visits.
What regions do you provide Local SEO services for?
I have helped optimise across all regions in NZ including Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Hamilton, Tauranga, Dunedin, and everywhere in-between. I also have worked with international companies on local SEO strategies outside of New Zealand, such as local SEO for Australian and USA stores.
What are the differences between Local SEO and traditional SEO?
Local SEO is about improving your visibility in location-based searches, like when someone looks for “plumber near me” or checks Google Maps. It focuses on ranking in local packs, maps, and directories so customers in your area can easily find you.
Traditional SEO is broader and aims to rank your website in organic search results regardless of location. This is often best for businesses selling nationwide or online, where the customer’s location doesn’t matter as much.
For New Zealand businesses that rely on foot traffic, service areas, or local customers, Local SEO is essential. Traditional SEO still matters, but without local optimisation you could miss out on the people most likely to visit or buy from you nearby.
What are the differences between Local SEO for a single business and Local SEO for multi-location businesses?
Local SEO for a single business focuses on optimising one Google Business Profile and one website location page. The strategy is streamlined, making sure your name, address, phone number, and reviews are consistent so you rank well in your local area.
Local SEO for multi-location businesses is more complex. Each branch or store needs its own optimised profile, unique location page, and tailored content. Reviews, photos, and keywords must be managed separately for each location to compete in their own local markets.
For New Zealand businesses with multiple branches, this approach ensures you don’t just rank in one city but in every region you operate. Done well, multi-location SEO gives each branch a stronger presence while keeping your overall brand consistent nationwide.
Is optimising for Google Maps the same as Apple Maps, TripAdvisor, AirBNB, and other directories?
Optimising for Google Maps isn’t exactly the same as Apple Maps, TripAdvisor, Airbnb, or other directories, but the goal is similar: making sure your business shows up when people are searching locally. Each platform has its own rules, algorithms, and signals that influence rankings.
Google Maps relies heavily on your Google Business Profile, keywords, and reviews. Apple Maps focuses on accurate business data and integration with Apple devices. TripAdvisor and Airbnb prioritise ratings, reviews, photos, and content quality within their own ecosystems.
I help New Zealand businesses tailor their optimisation across all these platforms so they’re visible wherever customers are searching. By managing your profiles consistently and applying platform-specific strategies, you increase your reach and attract more local customers and travellers.
When do I get my monthly reporting?
Can I subscribe for only one month and then cancel my plan?
Of course! There are no fixed terms of contracts with my subscriptions. If you only want to use our services for one month, you can subscribe then cancel before your next billing cycle to get our full set of services for that month only.
What do you mean by unlimited meetings?
By this, I mean that you can book as many video calls with me as you like, subject to my availability, to get my consultation or review work in progress. For most clients I usually meet with them monthly.
What do you mean by pause or cancel anytime?
After subscribing, you will receive a special customer link you can use to view your past payments, change your billing card, and pause or cancel your subscription.
There are no fixed terms to our service, so you can cancel or pause it at any time without penalties or additional charges.
How does the pause feature work?
Pausing your subscription allows you to bank your days left in your current billing cycle to be used anytime in the future.
For example, say that you signed up and used the service for 20 days, and then decided to pause your subscription. Once you unpause your subscription, you will have 10 days of the service to use before the next billing charge.
Who will do the work?
Are there any refunds if I don't like the service?
I have multiple brands, do I need more than one subscription?
You can use your one subscription to request work for an unlimited amount of sites, companies, or brands.
I run an agency, can you do work for us?
Where are you based? Can you come into our office to meet / do the work?
